Barbary Macaque (Macaca sylvanus), Upper Rock Nature Reserve, Gibraltar
As the sun sets the macaques get ready to bed down for the night in a place of safety.

Although they are habituated to humans these are still wild animals and must be treated and respected as such. Poor practices from tourists and guides leads to increased stress levels in the macaques and invariably conflict between the two.

The circus that occurs everyday to amuse passing tourists is generating an unfair reputation for these monkeys and their natural, charming behaviours are seldom seen by the masses that visit Gibraltar every year.
